Real Madrid have been in dominant form in recent weeks as they’ve chalked up wins over Levante 3-1, a 7-1 demolition of Celta Vigo and an away win at Las Palmas but they sit in a disappointing (by their standards) third place, and some 12 points adrift of La Liga leaders Barcelona.
Tonight’s hosts will be looking to register a fourth consecutive win in the Spanish top flight this evening when they take on Sevilla who, curiously, occupy one of the Europa League spots in fifth place but are still yet to record an away win in the league!
Real Madrid’s home record stands at 12-1-2 56/14 and they’ve won 8 of their last 9 at their Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, with the goals flowing on a regular basis – in fact during this 9-game sequence, Real Madrid have scored a staggering total of 44 goals and have conceded just 8 in reply!
Visitors Sevilla sit in fifth place but a long way behind tonight’s hosts Real Madrid with a deficit of 15 points to make up between now and the end of the season (8 games). With just one defeat from their last 11 matches, they’ll be confident of getting something in Madrid this evening.
However, as mentioned earlier, they have yet to register a win on their travels amidst an overall record of 0-9-5 10/17 while their record at top half opposition stands at 0-5-2 4/6, and you can see they have struggled to find the net away from home this season.
