Real Salt Lake have not been in the best of form in recent weeks, but they’ll be looking to put a halt to their five-game stretch without a win on Friday night when they take on San Jose Earthquakes at their Rio Tinto Stadium in Utah.
Defeats to Dallas and Vancouver Whitecaps have slowed down their bid for an automatic finals place, although they are still well placed for a finals play-off spot as they’ve picked up points against DC United, Montreal and New England. Incidentally, the aforementioned losses were both away from home, but their home form still remains solid.
An overall record of 5-4-0 12/7 means they’re still yet to taste defeat on home turf, but they’ve lost ground on the top two teams of the Western Conference having drawn four of their last five at the Rio Tinto.
Visitors San Jose Earthquakes picked up a 2-1 win over Toronto last time out in the MLS, but this was another home win which added to an already impressive record at their Avaya Stadium where they’ve suffered only one defeat all season.
It’s a very different story away from home though for San Jose who are yet to win a game on the road this season amidst an overall record of 0-4-5 8/16 and they’ve struggled to find the back of the net on three occasions on their travels to date.
The last meeting between these two sides ended in a 1-1 draw, but I’ll give the quarter-ball on the hosts here who should register a win – but beware the draw!
