Rochdale boss Keith Hill will be looking for his players to spark a reaction following defeat in their last match which was a 0-1 loss at home to Barnsley before the break.
Rochdale currently sit mid-table but Hill will be keen for his side to improve their home form which currently stands at 2-1-3 6/5 which includes wins over midlands pair Walsall 4-0 and Coventry City 1-0, but has also seen them succumb to defeat against Peterborough United, Bradford City and Barnsley.
That said, those defeats have been against top half opposition and today they have a chance to rack up a much-needed three points on home turf with the visit of Gillingham who have yet to record an away win this term.
Goalscoring midfielders Done (7 goals) and Vincenti (4 goals) along with forward Henderson (5 goals) look to be Dale’s best bets for an anytime goal.
Visitors Gillingham find themselves dangerously close to the bottom four of League One being just one place above Yeovil Town and level on points with The Glovers going into this match. The Gills’ slump in form has seen them drift downwards towards the bottom of the division on the back of three recent defeats against Sheffield United, Notts County and Scunthorpe United – the latter being a 0-3 home defeat at Priestfield Stadium where they were previously unbeaten this season.
It’ll be interesting to see how they respond to that most recent defeat as they make the trip up north to Rochdale, particularly given their poor away record so far of 0-1-5 4/12, having failed to score in three of their last four on the road and just one clean sheet from their last ten on their travels.
I am anticipating Rochdale to be up for this one, and with Gillingham’s poor form on the road, I reckon the straight win for the hosts is on the cards with perhaps a 2-1 scoreline.
