Rochdale ended a miserable run of ten league matches without a win in League One on Saturday when they registered a much needed 4-1 home win over Gillingham but they still find themselves seven points adrift of the play-off pack ahead of tonight’s encounter with Millwall.
The Crown Oil Arena is the venue and Rochdale must take something from this match this evening if they’re to stand any chance of making up lost ground on the play-off pack following their sudden drop in form.
However, it’s not all doom and gloom as Rochdale still possess a pretty reasonable home record of 11-4-3 38/20 and they’re unbeaten in their last four on home turf. In addition, Dale have also performed well against the top half teams so far this season with a record of 6-2-0 20/7 under their belts to date.
Visitors Millwall come into this match looking to break into the play-off pack as they sit just one point adrift of sixth placed Southend United, and a win this evening for The Lions could see them leapfrog Southend.
Millwall have put together an excellent 15-match sequence without defeat under manager and former Millwall striker Neil Harris as his side chase a strong finish to the end of this campaign, and they’ll certainly be looking to take something from Rochdale tonight.
Millwall’s away record of 5-5-6 22/28 hasn’t always been convincing this term, but The Lions are also unbeaten in their last five matches on their travels with a win at beleaguered Coventry City along with draws at AFC Wimbledon, Charlton Athletic, Bradford City and Oldham Athletic.
However, I believe Rochdale have enough for at least a point here, if not all three.
