Rochdale tasted defeat for the first time in a while in League One when they went down to a 2-1 defeat away at Southend United last weekend but they’ll be hopeful that they can get something out of their encounter against Oxford United today.
Rochdale had previously put together a five-match winning streak prior to their defeat at Roots Hall having registered wins against second placed Scunthorpe United, Northampton Town, Chesterfield, Shrewsbury Town and Walsall which has helped lift Dale into fifth place and occupy one of the play-off positions in League One.
Rochdale have also been in supreme form on home turf of late having chalked up ten straight league wins on the trot, and confidence must be sky-high amongst the Rochdale camp right now. Dale’s home record stands at an excellent 10-1-2 28/9 and they’ve kept seven clean sheets to date.
Visitors Oxford United have returned some mixed results in recent weeks as they’ve gained wins over Bury and Gillingham (both away from home) while also experiencing defeat to Northampton Town and last weekend’s defeat away at AFC Wimbledon.
Mid-table Oxford’s real problems though have been their results away from home even though they’ve registered those recent wins at the aforementioned Bury and Gillingham (both bottom half teams), as they hold an overall below-par away record of 3-3-7 14/19.
The U’s also hold a sub-standard record of 1-2-3 6/7 away at top half opposition to date this season, so I fancy the hosts to at least gain a point here in this one.
