Rochdale continued their impressive form at their Spotland ground on Saturday when they thumped struggling Swindon Town 4-0 to register a sixth straight win on home turf, and they’ll no doubt be looking to continue this momentum when they take on Walsall on Tuesday night.
After a slow and hesitant start to the new League One campaign, Rochdale have started to hit their straps, particularly at home where they’ve chalked up six straight wins and now possess a home record that stands at a much healthier looking 6-1-2 16/6.
The goals have started to flow also at Spotland with forwards Henderson (4 goals), Davies (4 goals) and Andrew (3 goals) among the likely contenders for anytime goalscorer for the home side tonight.
Visitors Walsall currently occupy a bottom half position in League One following a spate of draws particularly away from home despite losing just once in their last seven league matches overall. That defeat came in a 2-1 loss at home to Gillingham on Saturday while they’re unbeaten in their last five on the road.
The Saddlers have taken points away at Bristol Rovers, Peterborough United, Gillingham and MK Dons along with a 2-0 win at Swindon Town, but they’ll have their work cut out on Tuesday night if they’re to halt Rochdale’s run at home.
The fact remains that Walsall have still only registered just the one win on the road so far this season amidst an overall record of 1-5-2 6/8 and that was against a struggling Swindon Town outfit.
However, I’m cautious of another possible draw here so I’ll give the quarter ball on Rochdale.
