Football – Italy – Serie A Betting Tips
Roma will be glad to return to domestic Italian football this weekend following their 6-1 mauling at the hands of Spanish giants Barcelona in the Champions League during midweek, and they have a chance to bounce back here this afternoon.
The Stadio Olimpico is the setting for this fixture against mid-table Atalanta, with today’s hosts having lost just once in the top flight from their last eight matches overall which was a 1-0 loss away at Inter Milan.
However, Roma have also registered useful recent wins over Udinese, Fiorentina and Lazio whilst possessing a strong home record of 5-1-0 17/6 where they’ve won their last four matches on the trot with wins over Carpi 5-1, Empoli 3-1, Udinese 3-1 and Lazio 2-0. Forwards Gervinho and Dzeko are well supported by goalscoring midfielders Pjanic and Salah.
Visitors Atalanta stumbled to a 1-0 defeat at home to Torino last weekend which has now made it just one win in Serie A from their last five matches overall. That win was a 2-1 home success over Lazio, but they’ll need to find more on their travels if they’re to stay away from a relegation battle later on in the season.
Atalanta have lost three of their last four on the road with defeats at Fiorentina, Juventus and Bologna (3-0, 2-0, 3-0 respectively) while last weekend they did manage a point at AC Milan in a 0-0 stalemate.
But five blanks on their travels tells its won story amidst an overall away record of 1-2-4 3/11 as goals have been hard to come by for the Bergamo outfit.
Roma’s firepower should be too much for the visitors today, and I can’t see Atalanta scoring many in reply either! This could be a 2-0 win for Roma here.
