Sampdoria will be looking to register a third successive Serie A win on Sunday when they hosts Atalanta in this weekend’s round of matches.
Recent wins over Chievo 2-1 and last Sunday’s away win at Genoa 1-0 has pushed them into fourth place and they’re just four points adrift of joint league leaders Juventua and AS Roma who play each other this weekend.
So, there could be additional ground to make up here for Sampdoria who hold a solid home record of 2-0-0 4/1 going into today’s encounter with wins over Torino and the aforementioned Chievo, and they’ve lost on just three occasions from their last fifteen home matches.
Strikers Okaka and Gabbiadini look to be the most likely anytime goalscorers here for the hosts.
Visitors Atalanta currently find themselves fifth from bottom in Serie A after having won just once from their opening five matches, and that was a 2-1 away win at Cagliari who themselves occupy a bottom half position despite their shock thrashing of Inter Milan last weekend.
Atalanta have lost their last three on the trot with defeats to Fiorentina, Inter Milan and Juventus, conceding 6 goals in the process but failing to score a single goal in return.
On the road, Atalanta have won just once from their last five on their travels and this season they hold an away record of 1-0-1 2/3. Whilst they will probably hold their own against sides around them in the bottom half, I don’t expect them to cause the top six teams too many problems.
Sampdoria in good form right now, and with home advantage behind them again this afternoon, I expect the points to be wrapped up with perhaps a 1-0 or 2-0 win for the hosts.
