Tuesday night sees a bottom half clash in the Italian Serie A between hosts Sassuolo and visitors Empoli who are separated in the league by a margin of just three goals.
Sassuolo secured their first league win in eight matches on the weekend when they beat Parma 3-1 away which lifted them out of the bottom three, and with tonight’s opponents being Empoli who are level on points with them, I daresay they’ll fancy their chances of getting something out of tonights clash.
But at home, Sassuolo have been involved in three draws from their four matches on home turf so far with stalemates against Cagliari, Sampdoria and Juventus, while their one defeat came against Napoli.
Their overall home record stands at 0-3-1 2/3.
Visitors Empoli suffered a heavy 0-4 home defeat at the hands of Cagliari on the weekend, and they’ll be looking to tighten things up for Tuesday night’s trip to Sassuolo as they look to extend their unbeaten away run of matches to four.
However, Empoli have also been involved in a number of draws recently, three on the trot in fact on their travels as they’ve nicked points at Cesena, Chievo and Genoa, as they too have an away record that closely resembles that of hosts Sassuolo’s home record of 0-3-1 4/6.
Looking at the head-to-heads in previous meetings, there’s never been too many goals between these two and I reckon we could be in for another low scoring affair here tonight. There’s also not much to choose between Sassuolo and Empoli so I reckon there’s some value to be had here by backing the draw – could be a 1-1 draw.
