Seattle Sounders suffered a fourth consecutive defeat last Sunday when they were hammered 4-1 away at Portland Timbers and this resulted in them falling behind to new Western Conference leaders Vancouver Whitecaps in the standings.
However, the Sounders have a chance to redeem themselves at their CenturyLink Field ground tonight when they take on Eastern Conference leaders DC United as they look to break their current losing streak.
Recent defeats to Portland Timbers (in the US Open Cup and last weekend’s MLS loss) along with other defeats to San Jose Earthquakes and Philadelphia Union has set them back a bit, but when you look at their home form in isolation, this isn’t too bad at all – just one defeat in their last seven on home turf amidst an overall record this season of 6-1-2 13/6 still makes them an inviting proposition for tonight’s clash.

Onto visitors DC United, and as mentioned, they proudly sit top of the Eastern Conference some 11 points ahead of second placed New England Revolution, although this has been largely down to their home form where they’ve suffered just one loss all season to date.
Away from home though has been a different story for DC United as they’ve struggled for consistency on their travels all season – an overall away record of 3-2-4 5/7 tells its own story and when you dig a little deeper, they’ve actually won just once in their last six on the road (a 1-0 win at Chicago Fire) who currently sit bottom of the Eastern Conference.

So, despite their recent losing streak, I still see value in the hosts here as their home record has been pretty steady, but you might want to keep the draw on your side as much as possible. Could be a 2-1 win for Seattle.
