SEVILLA v CORDOBA – Pick: 1 HT/FT – 14 February 2015

Sevilla to ease back into race for euro spot

International Football Tips

Football – Spain – La Liga

Saturday 14th February 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Following a particularly tough run of fixtures, Sevilla have the chance to bounce back with a much-needed three points this afternoon when they play host to second from bottom club Cordoba.

Sevilla have lost three of their last four La Liga matches with defeats to Valencia 3-1 away, which were followed by losses away from home at Real Madrid and Getafe, although they did manage to post wins against Malaga and Espanyol at home in-between.

With an overall home record of  8-3-0  22/7, Sevilla will be confident of turning around their form and putting the pressure back on Valencia who have jumped into the Champions League qualifying spot ahead of them following the recent defeats.

Sevilla forward Bacca (12 goals) looks the likeliest anytime goalscorer for the hosts today.

Cordoba are currently situated second from bottom in the Spanish top flight but given the very tight points difference of the teams around them, a win here and there could save them from the drop. However, their predicament hasn’t been helped by losing their last three matches on the trot with defeats to Real Madrid, Celta Vigo and Almeria.

Away from home, Cordoba have actually won more games than on home turf so far this season although their record of  2-3-5  8/19 isn’t anything to write home about, particularly when you consider they’ve lost all five encounters away at top half opposition so far this season.

With just two goals scored against such opposition for Cordoba, I’ll back Sevilla to bounce back here with vigour and be leading at half-time and be ahead at full-time, hence my pick. Sevilla could win this perhaps 2-0.
