Sheffield Wednesday’s impressive nine-game unbeaten run came to an end last weekend when they lost 3-1 away to Charlton Athletic at The Valley with many pundits tipping Wednesday for at least a point against The Addicks.
Sheffield Wednesday can redeem themselves at Hillsborough this afternoon though with the visit of lowly Huddersfield Town today, and three points for The Owls could lift them within touching distance of the play-off pack.
Wednesday’s home form has been pretty solid so far this term having suffered just one defeat all season amidst an overall record of 4-3-1 12/8 and they’re unbeaten on home turf in their last five matches which includes wins over Fulham, Preston North End and Nottingham Forest.
Visitors Huddersfield Town currently sit in 19th place in the Championship and a recent run of four matches without a win hasn’t helped The Terriers’ cause either as losses to Derby County, Burnley and Leeds United along with a point against Reading has resulted in Huddersfield unable to pull out of the bottom half of the division.
In fact, Huddersfield have registered just one win from their last eight matches in the Championship overall which was a 2-0 home win over fourth from bottom side MK Dons last month, while their away form has been average.
A record of 1-3-4 6/13 is not the sort of form you want to take to Hillsborough and it’s another four matches on the road without a win as they’ve drawn at Ipswich Town and Reading but lost at Wolves and Burnley.
To sum up, I’m confident that Sheffield Wednesday can bounce back here today with perhaps a 2-1 win.
