Sheffield Wednesday have hit a rich vein of form at just about the right time as they look to cement their position in the play-offs when they entertain Derby County at Hillsborough with a valuable three points up for grabs for the home side.
Wednesday have won their last four Championship matches on the trot with wins gained over Rotherham United, Newcastle United, Cardiff City and QPR but their play-off status has yet to be confirmed as they have the likes of Fulham and Leeds United breathing down their necks.
The Owls will be happier on home turf though as they hold a decent record of 14-2-5 33/19 and they’ll be looking to avenge the 2-0 defeat at The Rams earlier in the season here this afternoon. Watch out for Sheffield Wednesday’s forward line comprising of Fletcher, Hooper and Forestieri.
Visitors Derby County recently appointed former Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett to take over from Steve McClaren who was sacked following a heavy 3-0 defeat away at Brighton in mid-March, and since then, Derby have made steady progress under Rowett, suffering just one defeat from his first six games in charge.
That loss was another heavy away defeat, this time at Brentford, and while The Rams have registered recent wins over QPR, Fulham and Birmingham City, two of the three victories were recorded at their iPro Stadium (the other was an away win at floundering Birmingham!)
Away from home, Derby possess a much weaker record than expected with stats of 7-4-10 19/27 and they’ve collected just one win from their last seven on their travels. It’s too early for Rowett to have moulded his squad, but I recommend giving the quarter-ball on Sheffield Wednesday here.
