Sheffield Wednesday’s recent three-match run without defeat in the Championship came to an end last weekend when they suffered a 2-0 defeat at Derby County, but The Owls can bounce back at Hillsborough on Saturday when they host Ipswich Town.
Sheffield Wednesday had registered wins over Huddersfield Town and QPR along with a point away at Cardiff City in a 1-1 draw. But Wednesday possess a pretty steady home record which stands at 5-0-2 10/8 and having performed well against teams situated in the bottom half of the division, they’ll be eyeing off another three points here today.
Wins over Aston Villa, Wigan Athletic, Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and QPR have proved that they can handle the lower placed teams, and they’ve lost on just three occasions from their last 28 at Hillsborough.
Onto Ipswich Town now, and The Tractor Boys currently occupy a bottom half position in the Championship as they sit in 16th place and this has been largely down to below-par results gained away from home so far this season.
Ipswich have won just once on their travels in this campaign to date amidst an overall record of 1-2-4 2/8 while they’ve gained just one win from their last eight league matches overall. That win came in a 2-0 home win over 18th placed Burton Albion, while away from home they’ve registered just three away wins from their last 18 matches on the road.
The only concern I really have is the slight possibility of a draw, but I’ll back the hosts here to register all three points which could lift The Owls into the top six.
