SHREWSBURY v BURY – Pick: 1 AH0 – 21 October 2014

Shrews to edge Shakers in top half clash

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Tuesday 21st October 2014 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Shrewsbury Town will go in search of a third League Two win on the trot when they host Bury tonight at the Greenhous Stadium, and another three points could see them jump into fourth spot.

After suffering back-to-back defeats recently to Southend United and Plymouth Argyle (both away from home), The shrews have bounced back well to register back-to-back wins of their own over Cheltenham Town 3-1 at home and Saturday’s 1-0 win at stubborn York City which has lifted The Shrews back into the play-off positions.

While Shrewsbury’s away results have been far from desirable, their form at Greenhous Stadium has been almost perfect – winning five of their six matches there with just the 0-0 draw with Newport County spoiling a 100% home record.

Their overall home record stands at  5-1-0  12/2 and this includes wins over Accrington Stanley, Luton Town and Cheltenham.

Visitors Bury continued their fine form at Gigg Lane on Saturday when they beat a below-par Portsmouth 3-0 to move into second place just two points adrift of League Two leaders Wycombe Wanderers.

But Bury are very similar to tonight’s opponents Shrewsbury Town as their home form has been solid so far this campaign as it reads  6-0-1  14/5 which includes wins over Plymouth, Burton Albion and Portsmouth. However, their are holes in their away results as they’ve lost at Exeter City and AFC Wimbledon in their last two away trips, and their record stands at an inconsistent  2-2-2  9/6.

I believe the matches between these two sides will be probably won by the hosts in each corresponding fixture, so with Shrewsbury’s unbeaten home record in mind and Bury’s two away defeats on the trot, I’ll back The Shrews with the round ball here tonight with a view to perhaps a narrow 1-0 win for the home side.
