SHREWSBURY v CAMBRIDGE – Pick: 1 – 07 March 2015

Shrews to cruise against U's

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Saturday 7th March 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Following surprising back-to-back defeats to Tranmere Rovers and Northampton Town, Shrewsbury Town bounced back with a much-needed win on Tuesday night when they secured all three points in a 2-1 win away at Accrington Stanley.

Shrewsbury got their promotion hopes back on track with that win, and they currently lead League Two on goal difference ahead of second placed Burton Albion even though they’re level on 64 points apiece.

The Shrews now have home advantage on their side for this afternoon’s clash against Cambridge United as they look to move ahead of their promotion rivals with all three points at Greenhous Meadow, and with a home record of  13-3-1  33/8 under their belts, it would be a brave man that bets against them today!

Visitors Cambridge United suffered a 3-0 reverse at home on Tuesday night when they lost to York City at their Abbey Stadium, and they have won just once in their last nine matches which was a 2-0 win away at Morecambe last weekend.

But that result has been the exception rather than the rule as The U’s have suffered recent defeats to Plymouth Argyle, a heavy 6-2 defeat to Portsmouth and the York loss. Meanwhile, Cambridge United’s away record stands at  5-5-7  23/25 but they’ve tended to struggle away at the top teams in the division as recent defeats at Stevenage, Luton Town and Plymouth Argyle have shown.

To wrap up, Shrewsbury Town rediscovered their mojo during the week, and I’ll back them to pick up where they left off this afternoon by taking all three points in perhaps a 2-0 win today.
