SHREWSBURY v CARLISLE – Pick: 1 – 16 September 2014

Shrews to bounce back against Cumbrians

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Tuesday 16th September 2014 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Shrewsbury Town have a great chance of getting their season back on track tonight following back-to-back defeats when they host bottom club Carlisle United at the Greenhous Stadium on Tuesday night.

Shrewsbury, one of the pre-season favourites for promotion from League Two this term, have recently suffered two defeats on the trot, away at Hartlepool United 0-2 and Saturday’s loss at Stevenage 0-1.

However, The Shrews possess a 100% record on home turf this season with wins over Tranmere Rovers, Accrington Stanley and Luton Town so they’ll be keen to return to familiar surroundings and take advantage of Carlisle’s recent upheaval.

Forwards Collins, Mangan and Clark have been amongst the goals so far and with seven straight home wins behind them going into tonight’s clash, I reckon they’ll fancy their chances of returning to winning ways.

Carlisle United recently parted company with manager Graham Kavanagh following their crushing 0-5 defeat at Cambridge United, and since then, The Cumbrians have produced mixed results with a win over fellow strugglers Accrington Stanley in the Johnstones Paint Trophy, a 4-4 draw with AFC Wimbledon and then Saturday’s 0-3 home defeat to Bury.

But in League Two, Carlisle have found the going tough so far this term having gone their first seven matches without a win, with an away record of  0-1-2  1/8 and they’ve actually won just once on their travels in the last nine and that was the League Trophy win.

The writing appears to be on the wall for Carlisle here tonight against a Shrewsbury Town desperate to get back to winning ways; I’ll therefore back the hosts to take the points in this one perhaps 2-1.

Pick: Shrewsbury Town straight win @ 1.82 Pinnacle
