Up until they progressed to the Europa League play-offs, Slavia Prague had enjoyed a good run in this competition having beaten Levadia (3-3 on aggregate, but Prague went through on the away-goals rule), and their previous round win over Portuguese side Rio Ave (again by virtue of the away-goals rule).
However, they came unstuck against Belgian outfit Anderlecht in a 3-0 defeat at home in the first leg of the play-offs last week, and so they’ll be hoping to bounce back with a domestic win over Pribram on Sunday afternoon.
With them needing to score at least 4 goals away in Belgium next week, I’d say that Slavia Prague are perhaps resigning themselves to another successful domestic season but they have some work ahead of them as they’ve drawn both of their two league matches so far this term.
Visitors Pribram currently occupy rock-bottom spot in the Czech 1.Liga table as they’ve failed to gain a single point from their first three league matches of the new season; defeats to Zlin 2-0 away along with 1-0 and 3-0 defeats to Mlada Boleslav and Viktoria Plzen respectively have left them bottom of the pile ahead of their visit to Prague today.
Indeed, it’s 11 league matches without a win overall for Pribram as they’ve been unable to shake off their poor run-in towards the end of last season, and they’ve now failed to score in each of their last four league matches overall too.
Their lack of goals could unhinge them again here this afternoon, and although the odds are a little skinny on the home side, I’ll take this all day long.
