Sport Recife were held to their third draw in five matches last weekend when they shared a point with Palmeiras at home in a 2-2 draw. Nevertheless, this result extended their unbeaten run at home to seven matches with today’s hosts currently sitting in 6th place in Serie A.
Sport Recife have lost just once in their last 20 matches overall in the Brazilian top flight, and they seem well placed to take all three points here this afternoon against Sao Paulo despite their current league standing of fifth place.

Visitors Sao Paulo, as mentioned, sit fifth in the Brazilian Serie A having posted recent back-to-back wins over struggling Vasco da Gama and Coritiba, but they’ll be in for a much tougher test this afternoon when they make their way to Sport Recife today.
Prior to the wins over Vasco and Coritiba, Sao Paulo had struggled in recent weeks as they’d gone four matches without a win as they drew with Avai and Fluminense (both at home) along with back-to-back away defeats at Palmeiras and Atletico PR being beaten 4-0 and 2-1 respectively.
Sao Paulo’s overall away record stands at a so-so 2-1-3 6/7 with mixed results being yielded on their travels so far this season.
It’s difficult to tell which Sao Paulo side will turn up today, but I fancy the hosts Sport Recife to at least avoid defeat here, and they may even nick this one perhaps 1-0.
