St Johnstone stand every chance of progressing their climb up the Scottish Premiership division this afternoon when they play host to Kilmarnock at their McDiarmid Park in Perth having put together a strong four-match unbeaten run ahead of today’s encounter.
The Saints have registered wins over Partick Thistle, Hearts and Ross County in recent weeks along with a point away at Hamilton Academicals, and they have home advantage again this afternoon against Kilmarnock.
St Johnstone’s early home record stands at an even 1-1-1 3/4 but they’ve played most of their matches so far this season away from home, so they’ll be keen to make up ground here today. The last time they hosted Kilmarnock, The Saints ran out 2-1 winners back in November of last season.
Onto Kilmarnock then, and they currently occupy second from bottom spot in the Scottish Premiership having registered just one win so far in this new campaign. That win came in a 2-1 victory away at Hamilton Academicals but since then, Killie have failed to win any of their last six overall.
They’ve also had 10 goals smashed past them in recent weeks as they fell foul of Celtic in a 6-1 thrashing at Celtic Park which was followed by a heavy 4-0 defeat at home to the hands of Aberdeen, so confidence is shaky to say the least.
Kilmarnock’s away record reads 1-1-2 4/10 and it’s hard to see how they’re going to get anything from this clash with their defence having shipped 10 goals in their last two matches.
