Scandinavian football is in full swing, and my next pick features Stabaek taking on Kristiansund in the Norwegian Eliteserien with the hosts, Stabaek, looking to register all three points which would move them within striking distance of the early Europa League spots.
Stabaek sit in the relative comfort of a mid-table position in the Norwegian top flight ahead of their clash with third from bottom Kristiansund, but the hosts will be desperate to break a recent three-game losing streak following defeats to Molde, Lillestrom and Brann, which has seen them ship 12 goals.
Stabaek possess a home record of 3-2-2 11/9 and they’re without a win from their last four matches at their Nadderud Stadion, but tonight’s match represents a great opportunity for the home side to bounce back with a win. Leading goalscorer and striker Omojuanfo (9 goals) will be looking to add to his tally.
Visitors Kristiansund are finding life in the Norwegian top flight tough going this season following their promotion from 1.Division at the end of last season. The newly promoted side currently sit third from bottom and are precariously perched just above the relegation zone ahead of this trip to Stabaek.
And despite showing signs of encouragement on home turf so far this term where they’ve suffered just one defeat to date, it’s Kristiansund’s results away from home that have been the major cause for concern for the players and fans alike.
An away record of 0-1-5 3/13 is the worst in the division, along with their lack of goals on their travels, and this could add up to a long evening against Stabaek. The visitors’ best chances of Eliteserien survival therefore appears to hinge upon their results at home.
