Fourth placed Stromsgodset will look to close the existing four-point gap on second and third placed Molde and Odd this evening when they take on early Tippeligaen strugglers Valerenga at their Marienlyst Stadion in Drammen.
Stromsgodset registered a convincing 4-0 home win over Sarpsborg last time out, and they’ll no doubt be looking for more of the same on Sunday night as they look to keep their unbeaten record on home turf intact.
In fact, Stromsgodset have won five of their opening six home matches amidst an overall record to date of 5-1-0 15/4 where they’ve achieved victories against Haugesund, Sogndal, Bodo/Glimt, Lillestrom and Sarpsborg.
Visitors Valerenga find themselves in trouble already in this new season of the Norwegian top flight as they sit fourth from bottom and yet to record a victory away from home in this season’s competition.
Their home form has seen them win three and lose three so far in their first six matches at their Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, but on the road they have really struggled to date having lost four of their first five on their travels.
Only a point away at Bodo/Glimt last time on their away trips has saved them from five defeats on the trot, but they face much tougher opposition in the shape of Stromsgodset this evening, and Valerenga’s existing away record of 0-1-4 1/9 could receive a further dent tonight.
Four games without scoring a goal away from home is not a good sign for Valerenga, and the hosts Stromsgodset should win this one quite comfortably.
