Wednesday 28th August 2013 – Kickoff:  1900hrs

Joint leaders of the Swedish Superettan, GIF Sundsvall, take on mid-table Angelholm at their Norrporten Arena on Wednesday night with the hosts looking to steal a march on league leaders Orebro and jump into a clear position at the top of the division with the points here tonight.

Sundsvall have put together an eight match unbeaten run with wins over Brage 2-1 away, Landskrona 3-2 at home, Jonkopings 4-1 and Degerfors 2-1 both away, with back-to-back home wins over lowly Varberg 4-2 and most impressively, league leaders Orebro 1-0.

Sundsvall’s home record is also a pretty solid one which stands at  6-2-2  21/16 at the moment but this isn’t what really interests me for this pick; the hosts score a lot of goals but they also concede quite a few too with just four clean sheets so far, they’ve shipped 4 goals against Assyriska, 2 to Landskrona, 4 to GAIS and 2 to fifth from bottom Varberg (that’s a total of 12 goals in their last five home matches)!

In the goalscoring stakes, look out for midfielder Sliper (7 goals) and forward Dibba (5 goals) as well as their leading goalscorer Eklund (12 goals) for potential anytime goalscorers.

Visitors Angelholm are also in the plus in terms of wins over losses on their travels so far with  an overall away record to date of  4-3-3  16/11, with just one loss from their last six matches. This recent run of form includes a 4-0 win at Assyriska, a 6-1 home demolition of the same team in the very next match, a 1-0 win at Brage and a 2-1 home win over Landskrona.

Away from home, Angelholm have failed to hit the net just twice and have scored in each of their last six away matches as well. Not only that, they’ve scored the most away goals out of all the teams situated from mid-table downwards and if you’re looking for potential anytime goalscorers, look no further than forwards Staaf (8 goals), Barny (7 goals) and goalscoring midfield duo Asanovski and Andersen (4 goals apiece).

The odds are heavily in Sundsvall’s favour as you’d expect so there’s little value to be had unless you’re prepared to risk going the handicap. I say risk, as Angelholm are more than capable of scoring at least one goal here tonight, so I’ll back both sides to hit the back of the net in what should be an entertaining match full of goals. Sundsvall to win perhaps 2-1 or 3-2.
