Swindon Town suffered their first defeat at home on Saturday afternoon when they went down to a 2-1 loss to third placed Bury but the home side have another chance to quickly redeem themselves when they take on Bristol Rovers at the County Ground on Tuesday night.
Swindon had previously strung together back-to-back home wins over Coventry City and Port Vale and although they have now lost their last two matches in League One, they should still be in a reasonably confident frame of mind ahead of the visit of Bristol Rovers.
It has to be said that Swindon are one of the most inconsistent sides in this division, but with this match being a relatively close local derby, and with home advantage, they surely have to be in with a good chance of claiming at least a point here?
Visitors Bristol Rovers have drawn their last four league matches ahead of tonight’s visit to Swindon Town having earned points against Southend United, Rochdale, Walsall and Bradford City although on the flip-side, Rovers have now gone five matches without a win in League One.
A 2-1 defeat at home to Bolton Wanderers preceded this recent run of stalemates, while their only success in this new season was a 2-1 home win over Oxford United. It’s been five years since Bristol Rovers were in the third tier of English football, and they’ve gained just one win from their last 13 matches overall.
They have also gone six away matches without success on their travels, a run which started with a 1-0 defeat at Southampton (now a Premier League outfit along with Bournemouth who were also in the same division that season!)
