SWINDON v COVENTRY – Pick: 1 AH-0.25 – 30 August 2014

Robins to sneak the Sky Blues

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Saturday 30th August 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Swindon Town will be looking to make it three home wins on the trot in League One this afternoon when they take on Coventry City at the County Ground on Saturday.

Despite suffering their first home loss of the season during midweek when they went down in extra time to Championship club Brighton in the League Cup, The Robins will remain upbeat out their chances of claiming the points in today’s clash following back-to-back home wins in League One.

Wins over Scunthorpe United 3-1 and last Saturday’s 2-0 win over Crewe Alexandra has given Mark Cooper’s side early momentum in their new campaign where they will be going in search of at least a play-off place this time around following a disappointing season last term.

Swindon’s form at the County Ground has been very solid and they’ve won six of their last seven on home soil with a 1-2 loss to Rotherham United the only hiccup. Nevertheless, wins over Preston North End, Sheffield United, Brentford and Bradford City are worth taking note of.

Coventry City still remain without their home ground the Ricoh Arena as they enter a second season playing at Northampton Town’s Sixfields Stadium. The ongoing battle with the local council off the field along with losing their strike pairing of Clarke and Wilson has taken it’s toll on The Sky Blues, not to mention the 10 point penalty that was issued to them prior to the start of last season.

But Steven Pressley and his men are nothing if not resilient and the new signings of midfielder Pugh from Leeds United along with forwards McQuoid and Tudgay should ensure that the midlands club avoid a bottom half finish this season.

However, Coventry City will need to improve upon their away record which has seen them win just once on their travels in their last eleven matches on the road in League One – that win came at Crewe Alexandra at the end of March.

Swindon’s early home form has been solid so I’ll back them and give the quarter ball here as I can see The Robins perhaps sneaking this one 2-1.
