SWINDON v ROCHDALE – Pick: 1 – 21 October 2014

Robins to keep bobbing along

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Tuesday 21st October 2014 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Swindon Town go into tonight’s clash with Rochdale on the back of a nine match unbeaten run which has catapulted Mark Cooper’s men into third place in League One and four points adrift of Peterborough United.

Swindon also have two games in hand over the top two teams of Bristol City and the aforementioned Peterborough, and all three points with a visit from Rochdale tonight could see The  Robins reduce the deficit to just one point.

During this unbeaten sequence, Swindon have beaten Scunthorpe United, Crewe Alexandra and last time out, Sheffield United in a 5-2 victory all at their County Ground under the guidance of manager Mark Cooper who is quickly establishing himself as one of the best managers in the lower leagues.

Swindon have also recently won two of their three away matches on the bounce with wins at Barnsley and Leyton Orient, and will no doubt be keen to return to the County Ground where they hold an overall record of  3-2-0  13/6.

Visitors Rochdale are without a league win from their last two outings as they were defeated 0-1 to Barnsley and then managed just a draw with Gillingham at the weekend in a 1-1 draw, both matches being at their Spotland ground.

They now make the difficult trip to Swindon who are on a roll at the moment, and despite Dale winning three away from home so far, the wins at Crewe Alexandra, Crawley Town and Leyton Orient were all against bottom half clubs.

When they’ve played top half teams away thus far, Dale have struggled as they’ve lost at Chesterfield 1-2 and Sheffield United 0-1.

Swindon’s attacking triumvirate of Obika, Williams and Smith (who have scored 15 goals between them so far) should create plenty of chances here tonight, so I’ll back the hosts for the three points here in perhaps a 2-1 win.

Pick: Swindon Town straight win @ 1.95 bet365
