SWINDON v SHEFFIELD UTD – Pick: Both teams to score – 11 May 2015

Robins and Blades to both score in 2nd leg decider

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One Play Off Semi-Final 2nd Leg

Monday 11th May 2015 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Swindon Town took a big step towards claiming a place in the League One Play Off Final last Thursday night when they nicked a 2-1 win away at Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in a smash-and-grab win.

They now have home advantage at their County Ground tonight when the two teams meet again, but the tie is far from being decided as Swindon are one of the league’s most inconsistent teams when they should win certain matches.

In the run-in to the end of the season, they won four matches from their last ten on home turf with wins over Barnsley, Bradford City, Notts County and Peterborough United while also suffering defeats to Crawley Town, Gillingham, MK Dons and relegated Yeovil Town. The Robins ended their home record with stats of  12-5-6  38/28 and they failed to score on just four occasions.

Sheffield United look to have it all to do in this second leg as they make the long trip down south to Swindon for tonight’s clash as they seek what would be a solid win on the road if they overcome their hosts this evening.

But hope springs eternal for The Blades as they’ve failed to score just once in their last ten away matches, while their overall away record in the regular season finished up on  9-7-7  31/29. In fact, United really tightened things up on the road in the final couple of months of the League One season as they lost just once in these last ten matches on their travels, which was ironically, a 1-0 defeat at relegated Yeovil Town!

Wins at Bristol City, Notts County, Rochdale and Barnsley will give them hope of turning things around tonight, and I’m confident they can breach Swindon’s fragile defence at least once here this evening.

So, given Swindon’s inconsistent nature and the fact that The Blades need to attack from the off here to reduce the one goal deficit, I’ll back both teams to score here tonight in what could end up perhaps a 1-1 draw at the end of ninety minutes.
