Football – Europe – Euro 2016 Betting Tips

The group stage in the Euro 2016 has been done and dusted, and we now move onto the knock-out phase with the last 16 teams lining up, starting with Switzerland taking on Poland at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint-Etienne.

Switzerland finished runners-up to Group A favourites France in the group stage as the form book ran true with the Swiss remaining unbeaten in their three matches; they started their campaign with a 1-0 win over Albania which was followed by 1-1 and 0-0 draws against Romania and France respectively.

Switzerland have struggled to score goals though as they scored just 3 goals in the preceding four matches before the Euro 2016 finals (2 of these were against Moldova), and I do wonder where they’ll get their creative inspiration as they haven’t fired yet.

Onto Poland, and they finished second in Group C just behind Germany, as was the case during the qualifiers where they ran the World Cup holders all the way in that group too! In fact, just one goal separated the two teams in the group stage here, as Poland registered valuable 1-0 wins over Northern Ireland and Ukraine.

The Poles also held Germany to a 0-0 draw in between, and this would have been just as much a confidence booster as the two group wins as they now head into the round of the last 16.

Poland seem to possess better options up front than the Swiss with the likes of Milik and Lewandowski linking up together, and whilst the latter hasn’t fired yet, I wouldn’t rule him out in any match.

I feel Poland just have the edge here, but I recommend backing them with the round ball.
