Sydney to keep run going against poor Wellington

SYDNEY FC v WELLINGTON PHOENIX

Thursday 9th February 2017 – Kickoff: 1950hrs

Football – Australia – A-League Betting Tips

Sydney FC extended their fantastic unbeaten run in the Australian A-League to 18 matches when they earned a point in a 0-0 draw at the Suncorp Stadium against Brisbane Roar last Thursday, and they now hold a commanding 9-point lead at the top of the division.

Sydney’s unbeaten record this season is made that much more impressive as they’ve actually played more games away from home than at their Allianz Stadium (ten away from home, eight on home turf), but they do return to home soil for Thursday night’s clash with third from bottom Wellington Phoenix as the hosts look to extend their lead at the top of the A-League.

A home record of  5-3-0  15/3 includes wins over Central Coast Mariners, Melbourne Victory, Perth Glory, tonight’s opponents Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United. The attacking trio of Brosque, Holosko and Bobo should create a few chances here tonight.

Visitors Wellington Phoenix head into their trip to Sydney on the back of three A-League matches without a win following defeats to Brisbane Roar and Western Sydney Wanderers which were both inflicted upon them at their Westpac Stadium, along with a 2-2 draw away at Adelaide United.

It’s perhaps no surprise to learn that four of Wellington’s five league wins have been gained on the other side of the ‘ditch’, while their record away from home has been decidedly below-par. The Phoenix hold an away record of  1-2-5  9/18 with their one success being a 2-0 win away at Central Coast Mariners.

That win was back in November of last year, and Wellington have since slumped to five matches without a win on the road, conceding 2 goals in each of the preceding matches.
