Relegation clash to produce goals

International Football Tips

Football – Iceland – Pepsideildin

Wednesday 6th August 2014 – Kickoff: 2000hrs

Next up is a relegation clash between second from bottom club Thor and bottom placed Fram Reykjavik when the two teams meet in Wednesday night’s Iceland top flight.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Thor’s recent form has been sketchy to say the least having won just once in their last eight league matches which was a 2-0 home win over KR Reykjavik, but recent defeats to Valur 0-1 at home, 2-3 away at Breidablik and a heavy 1-4 loss at Fjolnir.

Thor’s overall home record stands at a reasonable  2-2-3  12/10 and they’ve lost just once in their last five on home turf. Striker Hannesson (5 goals) looks the most likely anytime goalscorer for the hosts, and as a team, they’ve scored in five of their seven home matches to date.

Visitors Fram Reykjavik currently sit bottom of the Pepsideildin but are actually level with tonight’s hosts Thor on 9 points apiece. This therefore brings an extra edge to tonight’s match in what could be termed a real ‘six-pointer’.

Fram have lost their last five matches on the trot with defeats to FH, Stjarnan, Fylkir, IBV and Vikingur Reykjavik while their overall away record stands at  1-0-5  10/15, but they’ve been involved in goals in matches on their travels as four of their six away matches have ended up over 2.5 goals.

In fact, despite being bottom of the league, Fram have scored the most away goals of teams situated in the bottom half although only Fylkir have conceded more than them on the road.

This brings me to my conclusion for this match and I sense that there will be a few goals in this one – could go 2-1 either way, but I recommend backing the over 2.5 goals.

Pick: Over 2.5 @ 1.62 Pinnacle
