TIGRE v NEWELL’S OLD BOYS

Sunday 19th July 2015 – Kickoff: 1600hrs

Football – Argentina – Primera Division Betting Tips

Seventh placed Tigre earned a valuable point away at Velez Sarsfield in a 2-2 draw last weekend and they’ll no doubt be looking to build upon that result this afternoon when they entertain Newell’s Old Boys as they look to break into the Copa Libertadores play-off positions.

Tigre have lost just once in their last eight matches overall in the Argentinian Primera Division which was a 1-0 defeat away at Independiente but aside from that, the hosts have secured the points against teams like Estudiantes, Huracan, Nueva Chicago and Aldosivi.

On home turf, Tigre still remain unbeaten as their home record of  5-2-0  9/2 shows, and along with victories over the aforementioned Estudiantes, Nueva Chicago and Aldosivi, they’ve gained a point against third placed River Plate in a 0-0 draw.

Visitors Newell’s Old Boys sit in 9th place in the Primera Division following a solid 3-0 home win over Racing Club last weekend which ended a run of five matches without a win. Newell’s had previously suffered defeats to Argentinos Juniors and Boca Juniors while also drawing with Gimnasia la Plata, San Lorenzo and Banfield (the latter two being at home).

Away from home, Newell’s Old Boys currently possess what appears to be a not-so-bad record of  3-1-3  5/9, but dig a little deeper and you’ll find that they’ve actually recorded just one away win from their last five matches on the road, that being a 1-0 win at second from bottom outfit Arsenal Sarandi.

Defeats at Belgrano, Argentinos Jrs and Boca Juniors suggest that they could well struggle again this afternoon having failed to score in three of their seven away matches to date.

I’ll back the hosts Tigre with the safer draw no bet option here, but don’t be surprised if they get up by perhaps a 1-0 scoreline.
