Togo currently sit bottom of Group C with just one point as they make their preparations fro the final round of group matches this evening when they take on DR Congo at the Stade de Port-Gentil with a precious three points up for grabs for both teams.
Togo have now gone four matches without a win in all competitions following defeats to Morocco twice (once in friendly just before this competition), and a 3-1 group loss in Group C. Draws with Comoros (friendly) and Ivory Coast in Group C means they’re unlikley to feature in the knockout stages unless they can pull off a win here and hope the other results go their way.
However, history appears to be against Togo as they’ve lost three of their last five encounters against DR Congo.
Onto DR Congo now, and they’ve suffered just one defeat from their last five matches in all competitions which was a 2-0 defeat away at Cameroon in a friendly earlier this month. Since then though, DR Congo have registered a 1-0 win over Morocco and earned a point against Ivory Coast in a 2-2 draw in Group C of the Africa Cup of Nations.
A point here would likely see them emerge from this group into the next round, and given Togo’s problems recently in this competition, DR Congo can expect to get at least a point here, if not all three.
Panathinaikos striker M’Poku is the main threat up front for DR Congo who have been a fairly strong unit in recent times on the international stage in Africa.
