Torino blew their chances of claiming a european football spot in Serie A due to a poor run of results in the final weeks of the Italian top flight season.
The hosts lost three of their last four matches overall with defeats to Empoli, Genoa and AC Milan, and even though they registered a couple of wins over the champions Juventus as well as Chievo Verona, it wasn’t enough to make an impact upon a top five spot, and they finished well below fifth placed Fiorentina.
Torino’s home record actually isn’t too bad which currently stands at 7-7-4 20/14 and they’ve lost just twice in their last eleven on home turf, but have secured wins over Sampdoria and Napoli so they may well fancy their chances of claiming all three points tonight against second from bottom club Cesena.
Visitors Cesena have gone a terrible twelve Serie A without a win and their relegation was confirmed a few weeks ago as they sit second from bottom in Serie A. This will be their final match of the season in the top flight as they head down to Serie B for next term, and current form suggests they may well struggle again at Torino tonight.
Four defeats on the trot to Fiorentina, Sassuolo, Napoli and Cagliari pretty much sealed their fate, while their away record stands at a poor 1-5-12 17/37 and they’ve also lost their last three on the trot on their travels too.
In fact, Cesena haven’t won on the road in eight matches and confidence must be at an all-time low ahead of today’s final fixture in the big-time.
