TORQUAY v FOREST GREEN – Pick: X – 15 November 2014

Gulls and Rovers to cancel each other out

National League Tips

Football – England – Conference Premier

Saturday 15th November 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Torquay United recorded a somewhat unlikely 3-2 win away at Barnet in midweek which halted a run of three straight defeats for The Gulls in the Conference Premier as they sit in the top half of the division once again.

Previous defeats against Alfreton Town, Grimsby Town and Kidderminster had severely dented the west country outfit’s chances of attaining a play-off place, but the win at league leaders Barnet will have restored belief and confidence back into Chris Hargreaves’ squad.

At their Plainmoor ground, Torquay hold a solid record of  5-2-1  15/5 and the recent 2-3 loss to Grimsby Town ended a run of four straight home wins as they’d registered wins over Nuneaton Town, Woking, Dover Athletic and Wrexham who sit mid-table and downwards in the bottom half.

Forest Green Rovers are currently enjoying a run of seven matches unbeaten in the Conference, a run which has lifted them to within the fringes of the play-off pack and are indeed level on points with fifth placed Woking as a result of their good form.

Overall, Forest Green have lost just three league matches all season, and just once on their travels as they hold a solid away record of  4-4-1  winning three of their last four with wins at AFC Telford, Dartford and Bristol Rovers.

But recent draws against top half clubs Eastleigh and Macclesfield Town suggest that Rovers may well be happy with a point at Plainmoor here this afternoon as they look to continue their unbeaten stretch.

Despite Torquay’s strong home record, I feel that both teams are pretty even going into today’s clash and therefore I sense the draw being the value option here in what could be perhaps a 1-1 draw.
