Torquay United’s recent revival in fortunes came to an abrupt halt last weekend when they crashed to a 4-0 defeat away at bottom half club Barrow, and Torquay still sit in fourth from bottom place as a result.
Torquay had previously put together a four-match unbeaten run which included draws with Woking, Grimsby Town and Altrincham along with a 1-0 win at Southport, but The Gulls will be chasing only their second home win of the season this afternoon against Lincoln City.
Torquay’s overall home record still stands at a disappointing 1-2-6 9/20 and with just two points gained from their last eight matches overall (that’s 2 points from a possible 24 on offer), they still remain very vulnerable at Plainmoor.
Visitors Lincoln City head into today’s fixture on the back of two wins on the trot against Aldershot Town and Tranmere Rovers which has lifted The Imps up into 7th place in the National League and within touching distance of the play-off pack.
Lincoln’s progress up the table has also been assisted by a strong run of results on their travels as they’ve recently won four of their last five on the road with wins at Kidderminster, Guiseley, Chester and Aldershot amidst an overall away record of 5-1-4 14/13.
Lincoln’s away record against bottom half teams stands at 3-0-2 7/5, so they appear to be worth a hit at least not to lose at Torquay this afternoon.
