Fourth placed Tranmere Rovers will be seeking a fifth consecutive National League win on Saturday afternoon when they take on Chester at Prenton Park with the home side in impressive form in recent weeks.
Four wins on the trot over Wrexham, Solihull Moors, North Ferriby and Dover Athletic have been impressive in their own right, but Rovers have also scored 10 goals and conceded just 1 during this recent sequence and they’ll be confident of further success on Saturday afternoon.
Along with Aldershot Town, Tranmere have registered the most home wins in the division so far this season (7) amidst an overall home record of 7-0-2 13/5 along with a solid defensive unit which has kept four clean sheets to date, while strikers Cook (10 goals) and Norwood (7 goals) have been banging in the goals at the other end.
Visitors Chester City currently sit mid-table in 12th place and although they’ve won six of their nine home matches to date, their results away from home have been far from convincing and have been disappointing to say the least.
Just one win on their travels so far at second from bottom club North Ferriby United has been their limited success on their travels to date although they are unbeaten in their last five on the road; the other four results were stalemates in amongst an overall away record of 1-5-3 6/11.
But the goals haven’t exactly flowed for Chester away from home as they’ve failed to hit the back of the net on four occasions already, and if they’re to get anything from Tranmere here, I feel they’ll need to score at least 2 goals – something they’ve managed just once so far this season.
