TRANMERE v WIMBLEDON – Pick: 1 AH0 – 28 March 2015

Rovers could edge Wombles to relieve relegation worries

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Saturday 28th March 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Both Tranmere Rovers and AFC Wimbledon go into today’s clash on the back of a poor string of home and away results respectively, when the two teams meet at Prenton Park this afternoon.

Tranmere crashed to a 4-1 home defeat to League Two table-toppers Burton Albion last weekend which has resulted in Rovers perched just above the bottom two clubs, Cheltenham Town and Hartlepool United by virtue of only a slightly better goal difference.

However, a glimmer of hope for Tranmere is that they recently beat second placed Shrewsbury Town on home turf amidst the various defeats, with an overall home record of  5-6-8  25/28 under their belts ahead of today’s encounter.

Visitors AFC Wimbledon currently sit in mid-table thanks to last weekend’s 1-0 home win over Portsmouth which handed Wimbledon their tenth home win of the season. On home turf they hold a very good record of  10-4-5  31/22 but the same can’t be said for their exploits on the road this term.

Four defeats from their last five on the road has contributed to their overall ordinary record of  4-6-9   18/27 with recent losses being endured at Shrewsbury Town, Hartlepool United, Exeter City and Mansfield Town which are included in a run of eight away matches without a win.

During this sequence, The Wombles have failed to score on four occasions and have kept just two clean sheets whilst conceding a total of 11 goals.

Despite Tranmere’s poor run of results, Wimbledon’s away form must give the hosts hope here of grabbing at least a point in front of their Prenton Park faithful in what could perhaps be a 1-0 win for Rovers. I’ll back Tranmere with the draw no bet option but they need the points today.
