Top half outfit FC Twente can leapfrog Vitesse Arnhem into 7th spot if they manage to take all three points when they take on Heracles at their De Grolsch Veste ground, but they’ll need to raise their game if they’re to do so.
Twente have recently suffered back-to-back defeats in the Dutch Eredivisie having lost to AZ Alkmaar and the aforementioned Vitesse, but they’ll turn to their home form here which has been pretty steady for most of the season to date.
Twente possess a record of 4-3-2 15/10 on home turf which includes a 1-0 home win over Ajax in mid-December, while their record at home against bottom half opposition reads an encouraging 2-2-1 10/6. The hosts have also won five of the last seven meetings between these two sides.
Visitors Heracles have had a frustrating and inconsistent season so far in this Dutch top flight campaign as they sit in 11th spot as recent results suggest that they could struggle away from home at Twente on Friday night.
Recent form has seen the visitors win and lose in alternate matches, but recent successes have been achieved at their Polman Stadion rather than away from home; recent wins on home turf were gained over NEC and PEC Zwolle, but three defeats from their last four on the road indicates their vulnerability on their travels.
Losses at Heerenveen, AZ Alkmaar and Utrecht have contributed towards a disappointing away record of 1-4-4 8/17 while their record at top half teams reads a below-par 1-2-3 5/12.
