UDINESE v ATALANTA – Pick: 1 – 26 October 2014

Udinese to catch Atalanta cold

International Football Tips

Football – Italy – Serie A

Sunday 26th October 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Udinese will want to return to winning ways when they return to their home ground for their Sunday afternoon clash against Atalanta on the back of a recent defeat away at Torino.

Udinese lost at Torino last Sunday 0-1, but with a solid overall home record of  3-1-0  8/3 behind them so far in Serie A, they will be looking to take all three points this afternoon and chalk up a fourth home victory in the process.

The hosts have already accounted for Empoli 2-0, Napoli 1-0 and Parma 4-2 along with a 1-1 draw with Cesena last time out on home soil, but with former Italian national striker Di Natale (4 goals) and Thereu (2 goals) in support, Udinese look a good bet here today.

Visitors Atalanta ended a run of four consecutive defeats in Serie A last Sunday with a 1-0 home win over Parma, but they currently sit in the bottom half of the Italian top flight as a result of that miserable run of results.

Atalanta’s troubles continue though away from home as they’ve won just once from their last six on their travels, and that was a 2-1 win at Cagliari in mid-September, while their overall away record stands at  1-0-2  2/4.

Against the top half teams so far away from home, Atalanta have lost at Inter Milan 0-2 and Sampdoria 0-1 and a trip to 5th placed Udinese could pose further problems for them as they come up against another quality outfit this afternoon.

After last Sunday’s defeat, Udinese will be keen to take the points here, and with home advantage behind them along with Atalanta’s key defeats against the better teams away so far, I’ll back the hosts to take the spoils here in what could be perhaps a 1-0 win.
