Udinese's progress in their own hands

Football – Italy – Serie A

Monday 29th September 2014 – Kickoff: 1900hrs

Udinese have a real chance of reducing the current six-point deficit that exists between themselves and the top two of Serie A, Juventus and AS Roma, when they host Parma tonight, with another home match to follow against Cesena.

Udinese will go in search of a third Serie A win on the trot following wins over Napoli 1-0 at home and last Thursday’s 1-0 win at Lazio 1-0, and indeed, there points tonight would see them close the gap on the league leaders to just three points.

The hosts have won three of the their first four matches in the new season with another home win over Empoli, while their sole defeat so far was away at Juventus who will surely be one of the serious candidates for the Serie A title this term.

Udinese’s overall home record stands at  2-0-0  3/0 with their most likely anytime goalscorer being striker di Natale.

Visitors Parma are currently fifth from bottom of the Serie A but level on points with Sassuolo who occupy one of the relegation places at the moment. It’s been a poor start to the new season for Parma who have won just once from their first four matches, with three defeats already to Cesena, AC Milan and last Wednesday night’s loss at home to AS Roma.

Perhaps most worrying of all is that they’ve conceded a total of 10 goals already in this season’s Serie A from just four matches, and against an in-form Udinese tonight, it looks likely that more goals will be shipped this evening.

Parma’s away record stands at  1-0-1  3/3, but their recent win at Chievo was their first success from their last seven away matches in which they’d lost five of those.

Udinese with home advantage behind them should take the points here tonight in what could perhaps be a 2-1 win for the hosts, at a very good price I might add.
