Udinese host eighth placed Torino this Sunday as they look to halt a run of three straight defeats in Serie A which has resulted in a drop into the bottom half of the division.
Recent defeats to Napoli, Lazio and Cesena have left Udinese in a disappointing 13th place in Serie A with an overall home record of 4-4-4 16/14 and seven matches without a win on home turf. During this recent poor sequence of results at home, Udinese have suffered defeats to Genoa, Hellas Verona, Roma and Lazio, so a visit from Torino could once again prove a difficult assignment for the hosts.
In addition, Udinese have failed to score in three of their last four home matches and this could pose another problem for the hosts who are up against a side who are very adept at protecting a lead.
Onto the visitors Torino then, and they’re currently placed in 8th spot on the back of a very solid run of results where they’ve racked up a twelve-match unbeaten run. Six points now separate themselves and fifth placed Fiorentina, but with Fiorentina having to travel to Lazio in wheat looks a difficult match-up, Torino may have the chance to reduce the deficit here this afternoon.
Torino have also turned around their away form too in recent weeks, and despite their indifferent overall record of 4-3-5 13/16, they’re unbeaten in their last six on their travels which includes wins at Cesena, Inter Milan and Hellas Verona as well as points at Empoli, Chievo Verona and Fiorentina.
Torino’s recent upturn in form on the road leads me to believe they can get something from their trip to Udinese this afternoon, but I advise keeping the draw on your side as both teams have been involved in stalemates recently as well. This could be perhaps a 1-0 win for the visitors.
