Ukraine find themselves well and truly behind the eight ball in Group C after having lost both of their group matches so far in the Euro 2016 finals, suffering defeats to Germany and Northern Ireland, both by 2-0 scorelines.
Ukraine are duly bottom of the group then heading into tonight’s clash against Poland where they must win in order to stand any chance of remaining in the tournament, and then hope they’re one of the best third place finishers (assuming that Northern ireland and Germany don’t draw of course!)
Ukraine had brought some good solid form into the Euro’s having suffered just one defeat from their previous 13 matches overall prior to the start of this tournament, but they look a little shell-shocked right now.
Poland have made a very solid start to their Euro 2016 campaign as they secured all three points against Northern Ireland 1-0 and then held the World Cup holders Germany to a hard-earned point after a 0-0 draw.
Although Poland are set up as an impressive defence-minded unit, the goals have dried up in recent times as they’ve scored just 2 goals from their last four matches overall, with leading goalscorer Lewandowski yet to really hit his straps so far in this tournament.
Poland know they don’t have to take any unnecessary risks on Tuesday night against Ukraine as another draw should be enough to book their place in the last 16, and the onus is definitely on Ukraine to force the issue here.
I don’t see this being a high-scoring game as a consequence.
