VALENCIA v GETAFE – Pick: 1 AH-1 – 15 February 2015

Valencia to extend winning streak

International Football Tips

Football – Spain – La Liga

Sunday 15th February 2015 – Kickoff: 1200hrs

Valencia will be looking to build upon last Sunday’s 2-1 win away at Espanyol this weekend when they take on Getafe at their Estadio de Mestalla, and also keep Sevilla at arms length by taking the points here today.

Valencia are now in fourth spot and two points ahead of Sevilla on the back of three wins from their last four La Liga matches with wins over Almeria, Sevilla and Espanyol as they’ve stolen a march over their closest rivals for the Champions League qualifying spot.

The hosts’ overall home record is also a solid one which stands at  9-1-1  26/8 and they’ve won their last four on the trot on home turf with additional impressive wins against Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid.

Goalscoring midfielder Parejo (8 goals) continues to drive the team forward and he should be considered for anytime goalscorer status along with forwards Piatti and Alcacer.

Getafe continued their inconsistent set of results this season last weekend when they beat Sevilla 2-1 at home which has lifted them away from the bottom three in La Liga for the time being. However, with just two wins from their last twelve league matches, which incidentally were both at home (against Celta Vigo and Sevilla), they may find life difficult against a well-drilled Valencia outfit today.

Getafe’s record away from home isn’t that great either as it stands at a brittle  2-2-6  9/16 having now gone five matches without a win on their travels with recent defeats at Villarreal, Eibar and Almeria.

In addition, they’ve only kept one clean sheet from their last 23 away matches in the Spanish top flight which could spell further trouble this afternoon.

Valencia should put Getafe to bed in comfortable fashion in this one, so I’ll back the hosts to cover the -1 asian line too for extra value. A 2-0 win for the hosts.
