Top half clash expected to be tight affair

Football – Denmark – Superligaen

Saturday 2nd August 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Vestsjaelland and Copenhagen meet at the Harboae Arena Slagelse on Saturday afternoon to dispute a possible jump into top spot in the Danish Superligaen.

It’s still early days of course, but this is a top half clash between Vestsjaelland who sit in fourth spot and third placed Copenhagen, and a look at the hosts first up; Vestsjaelland started their new campaign off with a 2-3 defeat away at Nordsjaelland but then bounced back with a 3-1 home win over Odense.

They now face an early test against one of Denmark’s top teams and dare I say I don’t think we’ll be seeing a goal-glut here today with both sides expecting to be wanting to keep things tight to remain in the top half of the division.

Visitors FC Copenhagen have started their new season in a positive way as they’re still unbeaten after their first two matches. An opening day 0-0 draw away at Silkeborg was followed up with a 2-1 home win over Nordsjaelland, but they drew another blank on the road in their Champions League qualifier at Dnipro in another 0-0 draw.

Copenhagen have been pretty solid away from home in the Superligaen as they’ve lost just twice in their last twelve on their travels, and I think they would settle for a point in this afternoon’s encounter as they look ahead to their second leg tie at home to Dnipro next Wednesday night.

As a side note, four of the last five meetings between these two sides have ended up under 2.5 goals, and given that Copenhagen’s last two away matches ended up 0-0, I reckon there’s a fair chance we may see another low scoring game here today. However, I do recommend backing the under 2.75 goals option in case it does go to three goals or more.

Pick: Under 2.75 goals @ 1.65 Pinnacle
