WALSALL v YEOVIL – Pick: 1 AH-0.25 – 19 August 2014

Saddlers to handle visiting Glovers

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Tuesday 19th August 2014 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Walsall will look to secure their first home win of the season in League One when they take on Yeovil Town at their Banks’s Stadium on Tuesday night following two draws.

The Saddlers remain unbeaten in these early stages of the season having drawn 1-1 away at Port Vale, gaining a useful point in the process along with Saturday’s 0-0 stalemate with Bradford City at home. Sandwiched in between was a useful 2-1 away win at League Two side Southend United in the first round of the Capital One Cup with Dean Smith’s men going into the hat for the second round of the competition.

Manager Smith will be keen for his side to display more consistency this season particularly on home turf where they finished with an overall home record of  7-7-9  21/28, and with the visit of a Yeovil side who have lost both of their matches so far, The Saddlers will fancy their chances of gaining all three points this evening.

As mentioned then, visitors Yeovil Town have lost both of their League One matches so far with defeats at home to Doncaster Rovers 0-3 in their opening match and Saturday’s 0-2 loss away at Gillingham who had also dumped them out of the first round of the League Cup just a few days beforehand.

Manager Gary Johnson will need to lift his players sooner rather than later as they suffered relegation from the Championship at the end of last season, and if The Glovers are to stand a chance of claiming at least a play-off spot, they need to make sure the top six clubs don’t get too far ahead of them in the first few weeks of this new season.

This work also needs to involve improvement on the road as Yeovil returned a poor away record of  4-7-12  25/43, and they conceded the most number of goals away from home in the division last term.

To sum up, Walsall go into this match still unbeaten and I fancy them here tonight to get all three points – give the quarter ball here at still good odds as Walsall may win this one perhaps 2-1.
