WATFORD v BLACKPOOL – Pick: 1 AH-1 – 24 January 2015

Hornets to sting poor Seasiders at Vicarage Road

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 24th January 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Watford flexed their goalscoring muscles last Saturday when they demolished London rivals Charlton Athletic 5-0 at Vicarage Road which maintained their push for a play-off place.

However, Watford will be very aware of the likes of Norwich City and Wolves making a surge in the past few weeks as both teams seem to have rekindled their earlier form in the season, so the hosts will be going all out to post another vital win here this afternoon.

Watford have won five of their last seven matches in the Championship, and they’re also scoring goals too, being just behind leading goalscorers Norwich City at home with a total of 28 goals. The Hornets have scored 2 goals or more on eight occasions from their 13 home matches in an overall record of  7-3-3  28/14.

Blackpool remain bottom of the English second tier following their 2-0 defeat away at Wolves last weekend which condemned Lee Clark’s boys to their eighth defeat on the road, and became their sixth away match where they’ve failed to score.

Things look desperate for The Seasiders as they are now nine points adrift of Rotherham United and the safety position of 21st spot, but with one win from their last six matches overall (which was a 1-0 home win over Millwall), the situation looks bleak for the side that were rubbing shoulders with the Premier League elite not so long ago.

The Tangerines’ away record stands at a poor  0-5-8  10/24 and they’ve kept just one clean sheet so far on their travels, and that was a 0-0 draw at the then struggling Brighton.

Watford know they must keep winning to keep hold of their play-off position, and these sort of matches is where they should win by at least a 2-goal margin. Watford to win 2-0 here and cover the -1 asian line.
