Burnley to bounce back at Vicarage Road

Saturday 5th April 2014 – Kickoff:  1500hrs

Mid-table Watford take on second placed Burnley at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon where the hosts will look to continue their six match unbeaten run on home soil.

Watford have been in impressive form at Vicarage Road in the last few weeks having racked up five wins from their last six with victories over Brighton 2-0, Birmingham City 1-0, Middlesbrough 1-0, Blackpool 4-0 and Barnsley 3-0 along with a 3-3 draw against Blackburn Rovers . Manager Giuseppe Sannino has certainly instilled confidence and belief in his team and they have responded well as they’ve improved their overall home record now to  9-4-6  31/20.

Striker Troy Deeney (19 goals) along with midfielder McGugan (8 goals, 4 assists) are Watford’s main goalscoring threats but they’ll face a well organised and tight Burnley defence this afternoon.

Onto the visitors Burnley then, and Sean Dyche’s men suffered their first league defeat in sixteen matches when they lost 0-2 at home to Championship league leaders Leicester City last Saturday which resulted in Leicester gaining a further three points’ lead on The Clarets and are now seven points clear of Burnley.

Burnley now make the trip to Watford who have improved steadily under their manager Sannino, but let’s not forget that Burnley have made themselves a very hard team to beat, even away from home where they’re unbeaten in their last eight which includes wins at Bolton Wanderers 1-0, Blackburn Rovers 2-1 and Charlton Athletic 3-0.

Burnley’s overall away record stands at  9-7-3  30/20 and they’ve kept six clean sheets on their travels so far this season, and their defence will need to be tight again as they face Watford striker Deeney this afternoon.

However, Burnley have proved to be a hard nut to crack on their travels and I’ll back them to bounce back after their disappointing defeat to Leicester City last weekend and grab at least a point at Watford today; take the round ball on The Clarets to be safe, but they might even edge this one perhaps 2-1.
