Hornets keen to stay on top

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 21st March 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Watford have moved to the top of the Championship with some solid results and performances as they’ve hit a rich vein of form at just the right time of the season.

The Hornets have won five of their last six matches overall with some notable wins such as 3-2 at Leeds United and a 4-1 dismantling of Reading, and they welcome an Ipswich Town side who have  recently dropped out of the play-off pack.

Watford’s have also been in blistering form at Vicarage Road in recent weeks too as they’ve beaten Blackpool 7-2, Blackburn Rovers, Rotherham United, Fulham and Reading while their overall home record stands at a strong  12-3-4  44/20. watford’s attacking trio of Deeney, Vydra and Ighalo have been largely responsible for their goalscoring prowess which currently places them as the league’s highest goalscorers at home.

Visitors Ipswich Town have hit hard times with the Championship season on it’s final straight as Mick McCarthy’s boys have registered just one win from their last five matches overall, and have taken just 4 points from the last possible 15 on offer.

As a result, the tractor Boys have dropped out of the play-off pack and now face a tough task of getting something against a rampant free-scoring Watford outfit, particularly as Ipswich have struggled on the road in the past few weeks.

Ipswich’s one success during this sequence was a 1-0 home win over Bolton Wanderers but it’s been five defeats from their last six on the road, with a win at Fulham sparing McCarthy’s side of six straight losses.

Their away record reads an indifferent  6-6-7  27/30 and they’ve kept just three clean sheets on their travels thus far which may cause them problems here this afternoon.

To sum up, Watford’s attacking firepower should give them a great chance of claiming all three points here, and I’ll back them to do just that with a possible 2-1 scoreline.
