Hornets to sting Lions for ninth unbeaten match

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 1st November 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Watford will be looking to extend their unbeaten stretch in the Championship to nine matches this weekend when they take on bottom half Millwall at Vicarage Road.

During this impressive run of form, Watford have beaten the likes of Blackpool away, Brentford at home and Sheffield Wednesday away, amidst a number of draws too it has to be said. Stalemates with Bournemouth, Blackburn Rovers, Brighton, Nottingham Forest and last Saturday’s draw with Middlesbrough have perhaps pegged back The Hornets, but nevertheless, they still remain joint top of the Championship along with Derby County and now Wolves.

It should be noted though that of those recent five draws, four of them were against top half opposition, while Watford’s overall home record stands at  4-3-0  17/8 and they have a number of attacking players capable of scoring such as Vydra, Deeney, Ighalo and Forestieri.

Millwall registered their first Championship win for eight matches on the weekend when they beat Cardiff City 1-0, but Ian Holloway’s side still remain in the bottom half of the division on the back of four defeats and four draws prior to the Cardiff win.

The Lions have also been disappointing on the road having won just once so far this season which was a 1-0 win away at Fulham in their first away match of this term, while their overall record currently stands at  1-3-3  5/8. Millwall haven’t won on their travels since the Fulham match back in August, which is now six away games ago.

Watford stand a good chance of returning to winning ways this afternoon against a side who have won just once on the road, so I’ll back The Hornets to extend their unbeaten run to nine matches with perhaps a 2-1 win today.
