Swans to grind out point against Hammers

Premier League Tips

Football – England – Premier League

Sunday 7th December 2014 – Kickoff: 1330hrs

West Ham go into this Sunday’s encounter with Swansea City on the back of two consecutive wins in the Premiership following wins over Newcastle United 1-0 at home and Tuesday night’s 2-1 win at The Hawthorns over hosts West Brom.

Big Sam’s men will no doubt be looking to make it three wins on the trot with the visit of Swansea here today, and as The Hammers have lost just once in their last eight in the top flight, they stand every chance of walking away with something at the Boleyn Ground this afternoon.

West Ham possess a steady home record of  4-1-2  9/6 and they’ve won four of their last five on home soil with wins over Liverpool, QPR, Manchester City and Newcastle United along with a point against Aston Villa.

Likely anytime goalscorers for the hosts look to be Carroll, Valencia and Cole along with midfielder Kevin Nolan who always poses a threat in the box.

Visitors Swansea City also head into today’s match on the back of a solid 2-0 home win over hapless QPR as Garry Monk’s side were rewarded for their patience after creating a lot of goalscoring opportunities before Sung-Yong Ki broke the deadlock in the second half.

The Swans have also lost just once in their last six as they’ve recently chalked up wins over Leicester City, Arsenal and of course QPR (all at home) along with points against Everton and Crystal Palace. On the road, Swansea have been less convincing as they currently hold a record of  1-2-3  6/9 and they’re without an away win in their last five since their 2-1 win at Old Trafford over Manchester United back in August.

Garry Monk looks likely to stick with the same 4-2-3-1 formation here today as they look to frustrate West Ham and go in search of what would be a valuable point away from home. Wilfred Bony looks set to lead the line once again, and is another possible anytime goalscorer candidate for the visitors.

Both teams have similar qualities and head into today’s match on the back of midweek wins. I’ll therefore go for the draw here as it represents good value for a match that could possibly end up 1-1.
